Just like yesterday

By PATRICIA MAE A. DALAGAN

It was just like a while ago
When you were pinching my face for reasons I don’t know
When I felt so comfortable as you hugged me tightly
It was just like yesterday.

It was just like yesterday
When I saw you smile,
I saw you laugh because of me.
I love to see you everyday
I love to see you happy
But it was just like yesterday.

I guess you’ve changed while I was asleep
or did I just accidentally lose my spark?
What happened? Did you forget?

It was just like yesterday
When we were genuinely laughing at each other’s jokes
And I really miss that day,
When I felt so important
When I thought that I’m one of your constants.

I’m in pain now
I can’t blame you, I don’t know
I guess I’m just destined to be part of your memory
Forgotten and buried without mercy.

But I will soon glow
You’ll see my spark overflow
Because it was just like yesterday
When you, my dearest friend, forgot about me.
